Merry {early} Christmas!

Merry Christmas {in a week}!

This past Sunday my dad took pictures of our family for the annual Wolsey Christmas Card. Dev and I had him sneak in a snapshot of the two of us. Isn't it so cute? Dev at least :)

I can't believe that Christmas is one week away! I've only bought about half of the gifts that I need to! Luckily Devin is really easy to shop for! But my parents, not so much. And his parents, I'm drawing a blank! Thankfully

I love the Christmas Shopping season. All of the 'hustle and bustle' is just so fun. {except I hate when I get stuck in Christmas traffic. booooo traffic}. I love how all of the stores are playing Christmas music: even Albertsons! (Which, by the way, isn't Albertsons anymore. Apparently it's Fresh Market, or something like that. I don't know what I am going to do without Albertsons! It was such a childhood staple!) And I looooove when I walk into the mall and see Santa there! It's such a magical time of year!

So to all of you, I hope that you make the most out of this next week! It is going to be a good one!

Apparently I like Mexican food... possibly too much.

Reading material this week: Harry Potter 6... again.

dear nicholas sparks,

i have a bone to pick with you. why do you write such heart wrenching stories? why do you write stories that keep me awake until 3 in the morning because i can't stop thinking about the book that i finished earlier that night? why does someone always have to die? why do (in most cases) the 'lovers' not end up together?

i've read two of your books in the last month, the last song and dear john. while the last song ended well, dear john didn't! ugh. in real life, sometimes, things work out. sometimes you end up with the person that you are hopelessley in love with (i did), sometimes people don't die before they should and sometimes PEOPLE ARE HAPPY! why can't you write about that??

just a thought.

meg

to my readers: don't read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks unless you want to be depressed. seriously.

My header is a work in progress. If there are any design geniuses out there who are dying to design a header and a format let me know :) If not, sadly you will have to wait until I figure out all this internet hocus pocus for this blog to be decently formatted.

Thank you.

thankfully, i'll never need botox

I love customers who come into my place of work and act like they know everybody and everything about us just because they ordered from us once.

I had a man and his wife come in today. Nice people but annoying as heck. They apparently ordered from us forever ago and so they thought they new everybody that worked here. Conversation went as follows:

Man: So how long have you been working here? I don't recognize you?

Me: Seven years.

Mans wife: What!?!?!? (Looking all shocked) Did you start here when you were FIVE?!?!

Me: (looking not very amused.) Nope, I'm 24.

They both look at me, then they look at eachother. Then they thank me and leave.

I get it. I look young. But why oh why do so many people have to comment on it? I should start asking customers how old they are :) I'll just insinuate that they look much older then they actually are. We'll see if they like that.

Okay, I really won't.

But I want to.

Yes, yes I do.

thank you, thank you, thank you

It's almost Thanksgiving. Two days and counting. Is it really already Thanksgiving again? This year has gone so fast! I remember last years holiday feast so vividly. I remember my almost fiance coming over and us taking a million random pictures with pumpkin pie in the background. Unfortunatley for me, some of those amazing pictures ended up on our wedding video. Thanks dad!! But most importantly I remember spending time with my 'boyfriend' and family. It was a magical day.

This year I am in awe of how many things I have to be thankful for.

As I was driving down the street the other day I saw a lady standing on the side of the road dancing around with a Little Ceasars Pizza sign. She has had that exact same job for longer than I can remember. And do you know what? She looks absolutley happy doing it. I am thankful for her, I am thankful that she can be an example in my life of someone who is perfectly content and happy doing something that is under appreciated. She has a zest for life and I admire that. And I also admire the fact that I can know all of this about her without ever talking to her.

Ambulances zoomed passed me the other day on their way to an accident. As they went screeching through the intersection I quickly said a prayer for whomever needed their assistance. And then I thanked the Lord that there were people like EMT's, ambulance drivers, doctors, nurses and hospital staff who are there to help others. My husband is a senior working on a biology major and I see how hard his classes are. I know that it isn't easy becoming a doctor and I am so grateful for those that do. They save so many lives everyday. It's a hard job with long hours and a lot of stress. Thank you for enduring that.

One of my favorite things to do is to sit down with a good book. I know that writing comes so naturally to some people and I also know that some people it doesn't. There are words every where! All around us! I am so thankful for the written word. I am thankful for the knowledge that we, as a human race, have to be able to read and formulate thoughts onto papers for others to read.
I am so blessed to have a stable job. In this economy it's a real blessing and I work with my sister everyday! What could be better?

I am grateful for laughter. Every single one of my days is full of it. I know that without laughter I would go crazy!

I love love my tiny, perfect, homey apartment.

Can I just tell you, my little blogging community, how grateful I am for life?! I'm so grateful for everything and everyone that I have contact with! I know that I sound like a broken record everytime that I tell you how amazing my husband is, but it's true. And he deserves to hear it all the time. I couldn't ask for a better family. I thank God every day for sending me to them. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I can turn to anyone of them for anything!
Oh goodness, life is wonderful! Don't EVER let anyone tell you differently!

... and thank you Mod Cloth for giving me an incentive to write this post. I almost feel sheepish that I didn't think of it on my own. :)

I love teddy bears. I always have ever since I can remember. I've had two teddy bears since I was young and I still put them on my bed. I often wondered how Dev felt about sleeping on a bed that is usually adorned by teddy bears but I never asked. I didn't want to have to find a new home for my babies so I figured if I never said anything he wouldn't either. One day I came home and found out exactly how he felt about it, and he didn't even have to use words:

Meet Jazz Bear and San Francisco Giants Bear.

What I'm reading at the moment:

The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak

I have a feeling that by the time I get to the end of this book I will be sobbing. It is very intriguing and very well written.

What I've read recently:

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.

This book had me sobbing by the end. So good. I can't wait for the movie to come out in April.

The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and The Struggle by L.J. Smith.

Hm... these books were... hm... interesting. I have been watching the show The Vampire Diaries on the CW on Thursday and I LOVE the show oh so much! The books were completley different, not as good. I'm waiting until I read the rest of the series until I make a decision on this books yet.

But you should watch the show. Yes, yes you should.

who I am today.

... i really want to start decorating for Christmas.

... unfortunatley lost a lot of hair yesterday thanks to a pair of scissors in the hands of a stylist. it will grow again, hopefully more healthy.

... i am currently obsessed with anything girly and unique.

... i have the most wonderful husband in the world. period. don't even argue this point.

... family means everything to me.

... give me a good book and you won't see me for hours.

... twilight? how about not...

... i wish i knew where school was taking me. sometimes I feel that i will be there forever.

... i covet peoples clothes. i know it's a sin, but i can't help it. i saw a girl in a flowery skirt at school today, i loved it, i wanted it.

... those ten pounds i gained in the last few months will NOT go away no matter how many salads i eat.

... yes i have a zit on my chin.
... but most importantly, i know life is all kinds of wonderful!

Confession... When I got engaged I thought to myself, "Crud!! I'm going to need to get a new blog so I can be my cool awesome self on that blog and then have this blog be a "Devin and Megan did this..." blog." Guess what? I am recently realizing that I don't need to do that. And to be honest with you, keeping up two blogs was really wearing me out. Wearing me out to the point I wasn't blogging anymore. So I decided to consolidate, here, on this blog. It will be two blogs in one. A blog where I show my awesome self and a blog where I show Devin and I's awesome marriage stuff. :D That's my solution.

So my other blog: http://apinkypromise.blogspot.com is, well, not really a blog anymore. I mean, I guess it's still a blog but I won't be updating it anymore. It will all be here.

So welcome... to my new and improved blog.

I love all my 2 readers!

On to my blog for the day...

I have been starting to obsessively check twitter. I don't know why. Who wants to hear a lot of word vomit from people I don't know. It's like that one person that you have as a Facebook friend who updates their status every 2 seconds... only that is what EVERYONE is doing! That's what it is for. (I will admit that I've had my share of lame twitter posts...) I don't really care if @JoeSchmo has a test in two hours. And I definitely don't care if @SuzieQ is scared for her dentist appointment. But alas, I do care if @MileyCyrus is sick! And I do care if @DemiLovato misses her BFF! And I most definitley do care if @NickyJonas is in love with MILEY!! (ok that last one didn't happen but I can pretend. Why won't they just date!?)

But today @MileyCyrus (That's Miley Cyrus for those who didn't catch on) DELETED her Twitter account! Now I can't read her constant word vomit and quite frankly I am a little upset. I liked hearing what she had for lunch and what she was listening to right at that moment! Now I will never know and she will be as unatainable as ever. Goodness. What is a 24 year old obsessed with Disney stars girl to do? That came out a little creepy sounding. I'm not obsessed and I will NEVER stalk Zac Efron. Ever!

At least I was able to go to her concert last week. At least I was able to win 3rd row tickets on the floor. At least I was able to finally end up sitting on the floor a little ways back due to the fact that I won 2 tickets and there were 3 of us. At least I got to see Miley dry heave on the stage because she was so sick. (I knew that she was sick via Twitter.... and her manager coming out after she ran off stage during a song and telling everyone...) At least I got to sway my cell phone during The Climb. It was a good night. (I would like to give a mini shout out to Steph and Taren for being awesome even though there were a lot of strange things that happened that night!!!)

I think that's all the word vomit I have for tonight. For more you can go to my Twitter :0) You can get updated on things like 'what I had for breakfast' and such. It's very intriguing. Promise. @megburr

The best day of my life!

Our life in pictures...

Our wonderful trip to Denver, CO

Beautiful drive to Denver, CO

Dev got his favorite baseball players autograph!

Game #2

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

This past weekend Devin and I went to Denver to see two San Francisco Giants games. It was a fun 'minica' (That's short for mini vacation. But actually when I have to explain it, it doesn't make it short at all. It makes it really long.) We left after work on Friday and drove to Moab. There we stayed with Devins aunt and uncle. They were so great for letting us stay there. They even gave me the official tour of Moab. The next day we drove to Denver and went straight to a game. We lost :( But it was still really fun! Then we stayed at my aunt and uncles in Denver!! Then the next day we went to one more game and then drove all the way back to Provo that night. Whirlwind trip but oh so fun!! We couldn't have done it without our great families!!

Unfortunatley the internet at our apartment is being skewy so I can't up load pictures right now, but when I can I will put some on here!!!

:)

You would think that nothing has happened in our life since May. How wrong that is!

On June 19, 2009 Devin and I got married in the Salt Lake Temple! The day was gorgeous! We really lucked out with the weather considering it was raining the whole week before and week after. Wonderful day! Our families really worked together to make it a memorable day! :-)

We then spent a wonderful week in Hawaii. We stayed on Oahu just a block in from Waikiki. We spent many days on the beach, a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center and a day at Pearl Harbor. :) I hated coming home from that trip but it was exciting knowing that everything was going to be different!

We are currently living in a wonderful apartment in Provo. Sadly it doesn't have a dishwasher... my one complaint! Hehe. Other than that it's perfect!

We are very much enjoying our lives together. Oh... and we're very much in love :) <3

Awkward Engagment Photos

We've all seen them. We know they are out there: Awkward Engagement Pictures. They're everywhere you look. In the mail, on the internet, in newspapers etc. I am going to dedicate a few future posts to them. They are so amazing I would think they deserve their own blog but since I already have 3 blogs I figured I will just add a section into this one. Please leave feedback and also links to your favorite awkward engagement photos!

Is the dog part of the deal? You get me, you get the dog. Probably.
-----

A little white trash I would say
-----

Nothing says love better than two cheap champagne cups under a nasty bridge.
-----

Maybe they are showing off their best sides. If so I wouldn't want them to turn around.
-----

I love how his face is smashed into her chestal area.
-----

She's bent so far over backwards she looks like she may fall. And, what is he kissing?
-----

My favorite one of this post: where's his face? Where are her hands sitting? hm...
-----

This may possibly be the most painful engagement picture ever. Period.

Flowers and Invites...

Right now my dear mother and I are looking at (in no particular order): flower vendors, cake vendors and invitations. I'm not going to lie, it's giving me a headache!! As most of you know my colors are black and white. Black- because it's my favorite color ever. White - just because. And then wer are planning on doing lime green and pink accents.... I really want gerber daisies as my flowers in lime green and pink but we will see how that goes.

So I want to post a few ideas that I've been looking at online and get some amazing ideas :)

Flowers:

I like this boquet!! It has hydrangeas' and gerber daisies!! Love love it! (obviously in differenc colors...) What do you think?

This boquet is completely hydrangeas'. Pretty and something my mom and I could do by ourselves. I like the ribbon hanging down. Obviously it wouldn't be in blue. Maybe pink with black ribbon? I don't know...

Invites:
(Look! This one I was able to customize!!!)

Me Likey
And then with these ones we would just print a picture and put it in with it, under some vellum or something. Whaddya think?

Anyways these are just some ideas that we have been toying with. What do you think?? Do you know any place to get awesome deals on invites and flowers? If so let me know!!! :-)

the climb

I'm a huge Disney fan. (If you didn't know this by now then I don't think you know me.) I love Hannah Montana. Yes, I said it. I love a show about some sixteen year old girl who is leading a double life: one as a pop star and the other as a normal teen.

On April 10th the Hannah Montana movie is coming out. It's going to be bittersweet. Sweet because I love HM. Bitter because I know deep down it will be the end of Hannah Montana.

I love the song that has been released on the radio. "The Climb". It's amazing. You tube it. I Tunes it. Steal it illegally off of Limewire Do anything it just so you can hear it. (Kidding, don't Limewire it. That's illegal and I don't want to get in trouble for promoting it. It's baaaad.) :-)

Anyways, it's a really inspirational song and the music video is also really good. Check it out!

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move.
Always gonna be an uphill battle,
sometimes I'm going to have to lose.
It aint about how fast I get there,
aint about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb!

~

Yay Miley!

Reception Center!

We chose our reception venue!! Highland Gardens! It's just south of Lone Peak High School in Highland UT. My mom suggested it last Monday and I was a little confused because growing up this place had just been a flower nursery. But I went with my mom to look at it and I fell in love! It's gorgeous! There are inside gardens with streams running through them - so you have the sound of running water! The ceiling can either be closed or open - depending on if it's raining outside or not. It's absolutely 100% perfect!!

If you want to look at the pictures just go to - www.hgardens.com - and click on 'photo gallery'! The pictures are definitely worth looking at :-)

About the Dress

When you start planning a wedding the first thing that you think of is finding the perfect dress. For me this wasn't that hard. I've always had an idea in my mind of what I wanted and thankfully I found it!! :-) My friend, Sarah, works at Alysse's Bridal and so I went in there to look one day and she so graciously started pulling out almost every dress in the store for me to try on!! The one I ended up buying I had seen on the mannequin and I didn't like it there but I loooved it on!! Dress problem solved.

When I bought my dress I had: Devin, my mom, my sister, dad, brother, little sister and other little sister there for a 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7th opinion! (Plus Sarah who was helping me in and out of each of them :) ) So I'm hoping that my dress will be all I hoped for and more :-)

Apparently, these girls below didn't have anyone with any type of fashion sense accompany them when they bought their dresses. Poor poor brides.

I don't think she has enough of a train. What do you think??

I'm not a huge fan of Gilmore Girls though I've seen it a couple times. But when i have seen it Loralie, pictured above, has always seemed to have pretty good fashion sense. Why couldn't that have followed her onto her wedding day? The roses on the chest need to go!

Apparently this is 'haute couture'. Hopefully no one actually wears it. Except for maybe a nun, on her wedding day.

Bahahhahaha. Save it for the wedding night lady.

Hm. I'm sure she has a great personality.

Okay, some people like this style, all the bunching etc. But I can't stand it. Plus the model looks like an overly tan, peroxide head evil minion with world domination on her mind.

Bahahhahahahahahahahahaha.
Devin and I at a Jazz game. I think this was the Celtics game. Who knows. :-)
